World Ocean Observatory (W2O) is pleased to share World Ocean Explorer, a first-of-its-kind immersive virtual aquarium. Deep Sea, sponsored by Schmidt Ocean Institute, is the first exhibit in the virtual aquarium, showcasing deep-sea discoveries. The Hub is the main entryway into World Ocean Explorer virtual aquarium, with access to all exhibits from the main space. THE HUB will also contain the Ocean Classroom Educational Resource Center and Ocean Theater with a catalog of short and feature length ocean films.

World Ocean Radio broadcast its 750th episode in May of 2025.

World Ocean Observatory is proud to partner on a series of provocative publications about the ocean, published in association with Leete's Island Books. Five titles have been published to date with a sixth slated for spring 2024.

WORLD OCEAN EXPLORER: INTRODUCING OUR OCEAN WORLD
THE NEXUS is the central, organizing space and portal to all other aspects of the virtual experience. The heart of the knowledge contained throughout Explorer, The Nexus is central to the organization and access to the learning, context and entry to all other exhibits. In Beta.

DEEP SEA is the premiere exhibit of Explorer, showcasing encounters and discoveries made during Schmidt Ocean Institute's deep-sea expeditions. Latest version update: April 2025.

World Ocean Explorer has won a prestigious Unity for Humanity Social Impact Prize for 2025. Support from Unity Technologies will allow the Explorer team to build out submersible experiences to ocean environments, and translation into Spanish and Portuguese by year end.
